As we learned late last summer, a remake, reboot or sequel to Gremlins cannot happen without Steven Spielberg and his Amblin Entertainment banner. That was some great news, because we figured it would make it very unlikely to see another installment. But now Warner Bros. is busy negotiation with Amblin in order to set up a reboot of the 1984 horror comedy directed by Joe Dante. However, don’t get worked up yet because Vulture says negotiations like this between the studio and Spielberg’s people have happened before and resulted in nothing. At this point, Spielberg might actually produce for it to happen. As of now, this is just another potential remake or reboot, but a deal is not near being finalized yet.
